Remembering London…

We have been watching lots of the Olympics this year. I’ve never been a big sports fan but this year I have watched more events than probably the last 4 Olympics combined. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are in London, a city I adore.

It is so fun to watch the overhead shots and go “Been there”.

We would love to go back to London for an extended stay. In the 7 days of our visit we saw so much: The British Museum, Charing Cross Road, The Globe Theatre, St. Paul’s, The Tower of London, The British Library, Portobello Road Market, Kew Gardens. But there is so much we didn’t see.

It is really some of the small things that I miss: Hobnobs, Cadbury Biscuits, Cadbury Chocolate Bars, Tetley Tea, Crabbies Ginger Beer, Walker’s Cheese & Onion Crisps.
( I can tell tomorrow is a weigh in day.) Overall the food of the whole 2 1/2 weeks last year was great in all three cities. The only bad meal I can think of was at a restaurant in one of the attractions. It was so fun just picking a restaurant or pub as we walked and deciding to eat there. The prices were good, the portions were correctly sized and the service was excellent.

We will get back there someday, hopefully soon.

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit, and watching the Olympics this last couple of weeks. It has been a benefit of being retired and in the UK, that we have been able to watch pretty much all we have wanted to on television.
